Lifestyle essentials every student needs in 2020-New year HAUL

Hi loves! I’m super excited to share the products I recently purchased online for my end-of-year haul.

If you know anything about me, then you’ll know that I’m quite the penny pincher. I’m a broke teenage student with a small part-time job and I hop on every single discount, sale, or promo code I can find.

So with all the amazing Black Friday, Cyber Monday, and Holiday Sales that were going on, I saved quite a few coins on my new year haul. In my own personal opinion, none of these products were stupid purchases and they actually improved my daily lifestyle.

So if you’re a student like me and you’re ready to get your life together in 2020, then I strongly suggest checking out some of these goods. I’ve included order proof for every single product so I’m not trying to trick any of you into making meaningless buys just so I’ll get a small percentage.

Product photos are linked to the products if you’re looking for more information though! Anyways, let’s dive into my top 3.

My Top Three

proof of purchases

Stainless Steel 16 oz. Thermos Coffee Cup by Simple Modern

Travel Mug Photo

Call me a hot drink addict but I do believe this one of the best purchases I’ve ever made. I’m going to straight-up sound like a paid advertiser but I am truly in love with this cup.

To explain the $0.00 order total, I had a gift card, but I still think it would’ve been worth the cost. Not only is the marble print super sleek but the cup actually keeps your drink hot for hours. Like for at least 6 hours if you don’t screw the top off.

I’m a bit clumsy when it comes to transitioning between classes in a rush so it’s also a very notable perk that the cup is basically spill-proof. If the lid is clipped down, then nothing leaks out of it, and its metal build protects it from cracking when you drop it.

Sunrise Alarm Clock by InRich Technology

I love my beauty sleep dearly so waking up early has always been a saddening feat. And there’s nothing like waking up to a nauseating phone alarm in a pitch-black room.

This past year I’ve been trying to be more ‘productive’ or whatever, so I’ve made a conscious effort every day to wake up on the first alarm without hitting snooze. Thankfully, I’ve gotten more used to it at this point in the school year but it can still be a challenge to actually want to drag myself out of the bed.

I’d seen this sunrise alarm clock online a little while back and I just knew that it was what I needed to upgrade my mornings.

It’s marketed as a “SUNRISE & SUNSET SIMULATOR – designed to combat the sudden, startling awakening of a regular alarm clock, which releases cortisol and causes an imbalance in hormones, potentially leading to bad mood and inertia. The radio alarm clock emits light over 10-60 minutes before your desired wake-up time, and slowly changes the color and brightness from red to bright yellow; the alarm clock can also simulate dusk by dimming the light from 100% to 0% over 10-120 minutes.”

And I have to affirm that it does make for a quite unique waking up experience. Of course, the night owl in me will never let me genuinely enjoy getting up before the sun is in the sky, but this alarm actually does provide a pretty nice simulation that generally wakes me up before the sound rings.

I use the brightest setting and the golden color emission but I do appreciate the 7 different colors offered, along with the 20 different brightness settings. The best part of this purchase? I got it for black Friday with a gift card so no, that $3.96 order total isn’t an error.

Told you I’m a penny pincher.

15.6-inch Laptop Sleeve by Lacdo

Almost every student I know owns a laptop, so I figured this would be a perfect addition to my new year haul.

This sleeve has done an impressive job of protecting my laptop during my constant transport during the school day.

It’s cheap, portable, light-weight, and a nice salmon-y color (though offered in white and black as well.)

The sleeve is actually Amazon’s choice for for a “dell Inspiron case.” The case is compatible with: Acer Aspire E 15 E5-575, E5-575G | Acer Predator Helios 300 | Acer Chromebook CB3-532, CB5-571 | Acer Nitro 5 | Acer Flagship CB3-532 | Inspiron 15 3000, 5000 | HP 15-BA009DX, 15-F222WM, 15-F211WM | HP ProBook 450, 455, 650 | Asus VivoBook | Asus Zenbook Pro | MSI GL62M and Most 15-15.6″ Ultrabook Notebook.

I love it because it can fit into my backpack, but It also boasts features like having a shockproof soft lining, slim design, extra pocket, and being water-repellent.

My favorite daily essential

Leather Bullet Journal by MiPing

Proof of my purchase

2019 was the first year that I decided to use a bullet journal in order to get my life together. I’ll admit I was a bit skeptically of the whole ‘design everything yourself’ concept but I ended up thoroughly enjoying this freeing form of planning.

I don’t have to sit down and write out journal entries or stick to a constructed monthly layout, but yet my bullet journal still provides an overview of each week, month, and ultimately year, while allowing me to plan out short-term and long-term goals to my heart’s content.

Arguably the one product in this haul that was absolutely necessary for me to purchase. I’m able to track habits, daily moods, passwords, due dates, test dates, social events, family outings, and basically whatever else I want.

Details:

Cover Material: sheep leather

Page:100Sheets/130sheets Style of Pages: two style , line , dot

Size:21.2cm*14.8cm (A5)

And my arguably less essential essentials

Let’s be real, ‘getting healthier’ or ‘eating healthier’ is a new year’s resolution that almost everyone has. We all want to look and feel our best–no shame in it.

But I’m sure that more than a few of you will agree that finding absolutely delicious healthy food is notably harder than finding absolutely delicious unhealthy food. So I figured two more great additions to this haul would be healthy foods that not only taste good themselves but make other healthy foods taste better as well.

PBfit All-Natural Peanut Butter Powder 30 oz

I love nut butters of all kind; enough so that at one point I literally referred to myself as an addict. They can make anything taste like a dessert, and they still pack a good amount of protein and healthy fats.

But whenever it’s in my pantry, I basically eat a serving of it everyday, and with the all-natural sugar-free peanut butters taking up 25% of your daily fat percentage and less importantly, 190 calories, I realized that I needed a bit of balance in order to consume a larger variety of other foods.

Since I also regularly workout and weight train, I’d really been looking for simple ways to prioritize protein that don’t involve meat. Protein powder looked like an attractive choice but once again, I’m too broke to afford it (especially on a regular basis), and I didn’t believe I necessarily needed the abnormally high protein content consumed in each serving.

So yes, PBfit peanut butter powder was the perfect fit for me, containing 8 grams of protein, 87% less fat, 10% of my daily fiber, and 70 calories per 2 tbsp serving. For those of you who care, the powder is also vegan, gluten-free, and all-natural.

Organic Cacao Nibs 16 oz.

Marketed as Paleo-Certified, Organic, Non GMO, Anti Aging Antioxidant Superfood, Gluten-Free Cocoa Cacao Beans that make for a “pure Delicious Chocolate Essence.”

I’m a bit of a chocoholic, and I know tons of other students who are as well. But it doesn’t take a 4.0 GPA to understand that chocolate chips don’t add any nutritional value to a meal.

And while dark chocolate bars may satisfy sporadic cravings, I wanted a source of chocolate that I could mix into any meal, top any bowl of goodness with, and still make for a delicious well-rounded meal/snack.

Now with all of my self-imposed requirements, I would be a fool to ignore the nutritional powerhouse known as cacao nibs: an “ANTI-AGING SUPERFOOD: With resveratrol, magnesium iron and more, amazing anti-aging antioxidants, and 20 times the antioxidant content of blueberries.”

These beans are also “NATURAL BEAUTY FOOD, with raw cacao promoting youthful skin and hair and boosting mood, energy, and healthy cognition.” And being the connoisseur I am, I’d say that while these aren’t super sweet by themselves, they’re definitely a satisfying ‘guilt-free’ addition to meals and desserts.

And lastly…for my women of color

Kinky Curly Twist Crochet Braids by Eunice Hair

*Proof*

Me modeling the hair…..and if you’re interested in the scarf, hat, OR, earrings you can find them on my Etsy

This would have to be the least essential part of this haul, but I’ve enjoyed the purchase way too much to leave it out. Crochet braids provide marvelous protection for naturally curly hair, and these, in particular, look impressively similar to my natural hair.

The pack has 3 bundles–each with 3 different lengths–and the combination ends up with a realistic final hairdo. I’ve literally gotten so many compliments on these and of course, the shocked “Omg, you colored your hair!” remarks.

So if I have any black girls out there looking for a protective style that they can flaunt for at least 2 months, definitely give these a try. They make my morning and nightly routine that much quicker.

Since you made it to the end…

No matter what part of the school year you’re at, I wish you a very solid finish to it. I hope that you’ll try at least one thing on this list; but if not, then use them to inspire your own list.

Of course, the real essentials you’ll need will be your family, true friends, and mental health… but a mini haul of your own may help along the way!

I really appreciate your dedication in making through this article and since you’re here, I bet you’d like a regular dose of student lifestyle advice, self-care tips, and frugal living guidance.
